 Video work above: Wolves and Sheep, 2005 (detail) As an artist I am curious about both of myself and the world around me. The intermediate states in which different phenomena come face to face attract me. Night and day, water and air, the limits of the microcosmos and macrocosmos, linear and chaotic processes. Something new may come to life in these and my understanding may change. With my works on video and film I have wanted to break down the linear order in film or tape, to create a chaos, which after a while, becomes a new form of order, beauty. My interest in form and colour dictates the path of my thoughts. The spiral and the ellipse are to be found in the most minute particles - from DNA to the contents of the atom. They are also to be found in space in the Milky Way and in the orbits of the planets. They are simultaneously in equilibrium and in motion. In the world we know the component parts may be separat in millions of different ways, but they may unite only in a certain form. It is only under certain conditions that substance, energy and state may give birth to functioning combinations. At some point the change in this relation breaks up the combination. The limit and truth of the existence of the combination is at this point. What is essential, however, is that this boundary may shift, the interval of variation of the possibility for existence varies. top |
